5 Cute Gifts or Activities for your Galentine this Year!

Posted by Garonne Decossard on

As a small business owner, I always appreciate the unique and refreshing gifts and experiences my colleagues pull together for special days. In this pandemic, we rely so much on our network to keep things fresh when we are flush against the pandemic wall as Luvvie recently puts it.

A handwritten note, a homemade cake and quick video chat can break the monotony, uncertainty and anxiety filled days we are experiencing.

Since we are all still at different stages of this pandemic season, I wanted to share 5 thoughtful gift and experiences you can share with your crew or Galentine this Vday.

KANEA Minis from KANEA Candles ($25). This set contains 3 mini candles hand poured with Odo (Love). KANEA in Twi means light. These candles are made to be warm and inviting in your home with each scent named after a neighborhood or city in Ghana!

Created with natural soy wax and phthalate-free fragrance oils for a clean burn, then poured into 3oz tins made to elevate your candle experience.

I bought the set of 5 and simply placed the tins throughout my home. The amazing scents filled my space, and the rose gold tins are a nice decor touch.

The Quick Dry Vegan Polish Collection from Jessie Monroe Nailcare ($11.99 and up): Although I did peek out to a nail salon a few months ago, doing my nails at home is still the safest and most convenient this pandemic.

With a toddler  as my current boss, I find the quick dry polishes from JessieMonroeNailcare to be the JAM! I am usually doing nails, preparing lunches and wiping faces all at once. It is swell that her polishes truly dry in 60 seconds!

I am currently wearing my favorite color, Polar Bear. As I type this I am going on a week with intact nails after washing dishes, cooking, buckling seat belts and doing bath times!

Baking with Blondery Galentine's Day Experience on February 13th at 9 PM EST ($25). Gather your girls and sign up for a fun baking class with Auzerais Bellamy, a pastry chef who runs Blondery out of Brooklyn, New York.

Auzerais leaves me in awe not just because her blondies are decadent, rich and worth every calorie but because I remember her passion when we completed a business accelerator program together 2 years ago.

Since then she has hosted cooking shows at Bloomingdale's with her products listed on their website, racked up many high profile pastry outlet features and very recently a NYTimes article highlighting black female chefs in the fine dining world.

I remember my family and I inhaling an entire box of these blondies in one sitting. That's a testament to the quality of her ingredients and the precision of her craft. You will be learning from the best while having a fun time with your girlfriends!

Pining Over You by JNWelsh: Who doesn't want to curl up with a spicy edge of your panties novel for Valentine's Day? With Bridgerton being the latest Netflix craze, I think you’re already primed for this steamy romance from Award Winning author, JN Welsh.

Passion meets old flames for childhood sweethearts Sasha Merry and Rodney Chestnut. My heart, mind and body was racing when I devoured this sizzling winter read. It's a perfect escape after a day going through the often predictable itineraries of this quarantine life. Although the book is set in Vermont during the holidays, it can be read year round and will definitely make you swoon this winter.

MowithKorra Class: she calls it a body maintenance experience... a course hosted 2-3 times a week conveniently online and at your fingertips.

I discovered Korra Obidi , an LA Based Nigerian singer and dancer, just like we all discover things these days, on my IG explorer page! I immediately became captivated with this woman. She's free, happy, and just boldly living her artist, mom, wife, and occasional cook life.

In addition to being a trained dancer, she recently completed a certification as an ELDOA trainer. ELDOA is a  rehabilitative exercise regimen where she acquired the tools to help people move better, using physical therapy to align the body.

She now hosts bi-weekly dance and movement classes where you can join with your crew to live your best dancer fantasies. You can get your crew together and reserve your spots through her instagram. In the meantime you might find yourself captivated by her feed, randomly popping up Live to dance with her husband and toddler daughter June.

I kept the list short with a nice mix of gifts and experiences worth sharing this Galentine season with your girls.

You can also get 25% off your entire order in our shop with code LOVE25 until February 14th.

I hope you find joy and reasons to celebrate everyday this pandemic. Our survival depends on it.
