Tension and scalp conditions, here's what you may not know

Funny college story. There was a time where getting cornrows in the front with the curly weave sown in the back was the biznezz. I think it was the first sets of curly styles to hit the scene. My sophomore year, I went to this braid shop in Brooklyn and asked for cornrows parted in the middle leading to the puffy/curly situation in the back.  The whole time I was getting braided I told the lady to of course not braid me too tight, while popping some Advil in preparation for what's to come. I walked out the shop feeling in my...

Want to Eat Healthy? Season Your Food

Posted by Garonne Decossard on

Lately, I have had people marvel at Grace eating her veggies in my IG stories. Some even think she ONLY eats fruits, and veggies. Not True! Grace eats everything, even things I don't eat myself like beef, lamb etc. She also enjoys her grandmas cooking of REAL Haitian food, not just the new-age version her mommy makes:-)  Let me just state for the record, a video clip or a picture is not life, that Grace is a regular toddler who often throws my food on the floor ( basically throws my money on the floor) and like most toddlers getting her to...

Chronic inflammation in the body can sometimes present itself as common ailments that we have grown accustomed to and for some leads to more serious conditions such as cancers.  According to studies from the Instituto Clinico Humanitas in Milan, Italy,"an inflammatory microenvironment is essential for all cancers".  You will...

Something Simple is Missing in Your HairCare Regimen

Posted by Garonne Decossard on

We have all heard it from newly minted naturalistas " When I was little, my hair was soft, shiny and long and we didn't use all these new products out here!" They are 100% Correct!! I was faced with the same enigma myself and as a science driven person, I went back to when I was a young girl and retraced what a day in the life was haircare wise. I immediately remembered that out hair was combed and brushed often, daily even ( if you are from the islands). My older sister who did my hair always stressed the importance of...
